Meerschaum - Who's your favorite carver?

I have a CAO from 1978, I have a Bolgi but I have no Idea who he is. And I have three meerschaums carved by Servi. So far those are my favorites and when I buy another meerschaum, I will look at Servi's first.

I have several meerschaums but only a few "signed". If i'm picking from my own collection I love the one I have by Yunus because of the quality and detail (it doesn't look like a beginner did it like some carved pipes). I'm also partial to it because its a civil war soldier and I do re-enacting.

@speaking of Civil War - The wife and I toured the Vicksburg Battlefield earlier this year. The USS Cairo, an ironclad that was sunk in the battle is on display and has a museum attached. I saw a couple of clay pipes in the museum.

@pappyjoe I love the clay pipes from the civil war. Some of my friends bought me some broken pipes pulled out of a campfire from a civil war camp and the detail on them was amazing for being clay, I'll try and remember to take some pictures. We also have a civil war museum in Fort Worth that is AMAZING, its the largest collection west of the Mississippi, and there are a few there but they have a hand carved wooden pipe that belonged to a confederate soldier that is an alligator sitting on a log (the pipe). I keep meaning to take a picture, I'll be there next weekend and try and remember. After I finish in school I plan on treating myself to a battlefield tour across the US and I... I remember seeing when they were assembling that ironclad when I went there in elementary school. I want to go back to Vicksburg so badly.

No hand carved meerschaum so for me yet. Have three African block meerschaum pipes. Two Peterson rusticated and one Kiko. Have been looking at some Sadik Yanik pipes.

Waaaaaaasy beyond my pay grade. But I take comfort in remembering that none of the pipes shown are EA Carey’s.

I am more a fan of IMP. I am not partial to most figural carved or lattice carved pipes.

@motie2 has resurrected another old discussion.
I didn't have this lighthouse when I started this discussion five years ago. It was carved by one of the Akdoula brothers.

And I now have two CAO meerschaums.
