I use carnuba wax from Penn State Industries its a bar and you use it with a buffing wheel on a grinder, but its only about 6 bucks plus shipping. And that lasts for quite a while. Personally I have a lathe that I play with and when I got into pipes I bought a buffing spindle like this https://www.pennstateind.com/store/LBUFFSYS.html. Gives me two wheels for different buffing compound grits and one wheel for wax. Works out pretty good
Not sure what going rate is, did a quick search and a 1lb block is about 11.60 with free shipping if you have Prime from that specific online retailer.
