The more money you spend on a pipe, the more likely it is that you will lose it or find some spectacular way of breaking it.

I'm knocking on wood with this one. I haven't lost a pipe yet and only had to replace the tenon on two meerschaums.

Yup. Has anyone seen my custom Mastro Beraldi? It's in my favorite handmade leather pipe pouch with a new bag of Old Toby.

Wear a favorite shirt while smoking.....you'll burn a hole in it.

For me, this was the case for when I first tried smoking a pipe. Almost everything that could go wrong, did, other than burning the garage down.

Lost a Kaywoodie Flame Grain in the Judo Pit at MP school in Georgia, went back and found it tenon and stem broken, Mortice crushed.

I lost a nice half bent billiard with beautiful lucite stem worth $35.00 in 1983. Not sure how much that would be today, but it was a lot to me then.

First time I carefully smoked a beautiful old meerschaum I got off ebay, about halfway through, still quite cool, I heard it crack. Perfect ring around the tenon. Fell in two pieces shortly after.
