Cigar leaf works for me in the C&D Haunting Warped, bluegrass, Seersucker, and Billy Budd blends. I don't think I will experiment with the Chopped Cigar Leaf.
One blend I’ve not seen mentioned (may have missed it) is L.J. Peretti Cuban Mixture. It is a burley forward blend with the contents listed as Burley, Cavendish, Cigar Leaf, Kentucky, Latakia, Maryland, Oriental/Turkish, Virginia. It is also Peretti’s oldest blend at over 100 years old. I recently picked some up when I ordered the Thanksgiving Day Cake. I’ve smoked only one bowl and found it enjoyable and the cigar leaf was evident. I’m looking forward to more bowls.
Earlier this year, Warped Cigars expanded into the world of pipe tobacco with the limited production run of The Haunting. Kyle Gellis, founder of Warped, and Jeremy Reeves, head blender of Cornell & Diehl, collaborate again to present two new, regular production pipe tobacco blends from Warped: Kings Stride and Cloud Hopper. The former takes its name from one of Kyle's luxury cabernet sauvignons and is a crumble cake featuring a unique cigar leaf Cavendish; the latter is a Virginia/Perique flake with Dominican cigar leaf inspired by Warped's popular Cloud Hopper cigars. https://www.smokingpipes.com/tobacco/by-maker/warped/index.cfm
@motie2 Hmm, The person in the article considers himself a veteran pipe smoker after 8 years. I have been a pipe smoker for a bit over 7 years and I consider myself a newbie......as would others I'm sure, especially at my age. I should have started much sooner
@RockyMountainBriar Hey, me too. I'm so inexperienced at 73 that I hardly ever take the time to air out a bowlful-worth before putting flame to it. Heck, I smoked Molto Dolce straight from the can.
But I'm always learning. In my first pipe life I was all about English blends and an occasional VaPer. This time around, I rode aromatics, mostly Barbados Plantation, for a couple of years. In the past half year, I've started adding English blends to aromatics , making my own Sweet Galenas.
