Lane I-Q CHANGES

I was just unpacking from a long move and opened a well hydrated humidor of Lane I -Q tobacco. I had purchased a recent batch because I couldn't find my tobacco products. The new tobacco was not even close to the old tobacco. The older tobacco was much better, with more molasses notes and more tobacco body. Does anyone know why this is?

I really don't get the popularity of 1Q.
I tried it and gave it all away. 🤮

I bought 4 ounces of 1-Q when I first started this adventure about 11 years ago. I still have about 3 ounces left, so no help here either, sorry.

I never tried 1-Q, as best I can recall. I have a jar of BSA, but I don't remember how it tastes. Our Brothers on TPL raved about Lane LL-7 and they were spot on, I love that Tobac. Sorry, not much help.

I'm with you. 1Q is just too generic for my tastes.
That being said, there are a lot of pipe shops that takes 1Q and relabel it as their "House Blend".

I started smoking an Erlich blend called Black and Gold in the mid seventies. My pipe smoking tapered of and Eurlics closed before I returned to exclusively smoking pipes 2009. I stopped in a local tobacco shop and was talking to the owner. As it turned out he was livin Boston and visiting Eurlichs around the same time frame and was certain Black and Gold was 1Q. I bought some to try and it was ok but not what I remembered. It's possible the difference was Lane production moving to STG.

I'm not a big aromatic fan, in my opinion 1Q is ok but LL7 taste a lot better.
