Been feeling a bit weird lately so I decided it was time to visit the Dr's office. Initial bloodwork shows severe advanced renal and heart failure. So, more tests upcoming but not looking real good.
Wish the bet for ya', just remember to get more than one opinion on any treatment.
My brother in-law who has had 'heart failure' for years and years (no telling how many heart operations he's had, I stopped keeping count), also has some level of kidney failure to go along with it (whether due to medication or simply evolved because of a weak heart, we don't know). It isn't total kidney failure (meaning dialysis and/or transplant) but came close at one point.
He kept getting the runaround because kidney doctors wouldn't do anything (i.e. prescribe) until his heart was better and heart doctors wouldn't do anything until his kidneys were better. Luckily my sister is a total bitch and insisted other doctors see him (he's a Vet so all this is at the VA). Eventually she found doctors that would work on him and actually consult with each other (sometimes it's like doctors work in silos). Long story short, he's still kicking around today because of that.
He's proof you can get through this, just keep your head up!
Thanks everyone. The worst part right now is the panic attacks, wondering if I'm going to wake up the next day. I see the doctor again on Tuesday and we'll hopefully have more info then. Spoke to her on the phone and she didn't seem to overly concerned with the blood work, which I thought was sort of weird. Anyway will update as I know more.
Saw the doctor today... Congestive heart failure and diabetes are what I'm facing. Prescribed lots of medications to combat the symptoms. Have a lung capacity test on the 10th and a followup on the 31st to check how / if the meds are helping.
@DSturg369; Diabetes is a pain in the ass. I inject insulin twice a day, and can't eat anything that tastes good. This may sound strange, but I think diabetes saved my life. Because of diabetes I had to loose weight and watch what I eat. I had the main artery in my heart 90% clogged and had by pass surgery two years ago. If I hadn't lost the weight and improved my diet, I may have had a heart attack. They found the clog during a stress test not as a result of a heart attack. I had a friend that had his main artery rupture while he was in the hospital and they couldn't save him. I guess what I'm trying to say is things aren't always as bad as they seems. With Gods help, you will get through this.
Basically, the meds are starting to work a little, with A1C and cholesterol levels going down. I begin a new heart medication on the 31st, in addition to the diabetic and cholesterol medications I am taking now. The prayers and good thoughts are greatly appreciated, thank you all.
Had my echocardiogram today, and the results were not good. Apparently, I have a blood clot in my heart and will be admitted into the hospital on Monday for various testing and procedures, unless I have a shortness of breath episode before then. Then, it's to the ER and admitted. Blood thinners afterwards. Going to spend tomorrow visiting family and a few friends.. Just in case.
