Have you ever smoked from a high grade pipe and what did you think?

One of the guys at our pipe club had a few pipes that were well over $1,000 and let some of us younger guys give them a run. I gotta say the one I smoked was very good, but not $1,000 good. What are your expereinces?

I have a friend that bought a three thousand dollar pipe a few years ago. He said it was a decent smoke but wished he had just divided it up and purchased six others, LOL. He ended up selling it recently. My only thought on four digit pipes, it must be nice to have that buying power.

four figure pipes are just obscene IMHO...same for the jewel crusted lighters that cost 25k

@crapgame and @mhajec, I agree, there is no way I would spend that type of money on a pipe or lighter. If I ever do, please put me in my place. There are too many starving children who I should be helping rather than spending that amount of money on something pleasurable.

Not just no, but 'F' NO. Too rich for my blood, even if I had that kind of buying power.

I'm with @mhajec on this one. I have trouble justifying spending even $40 on a pipe lighter when I can find classic lighters are antique/collectible shops for around $10 that work perfectly well.

Now don't get me wrong here, if I was to say, be gifted a 5 figure lighter, I'd happily accept it.

My most expensive pipe is a PAIR of petersons I bought as estates on eBay for $50 for the pair.

So yeah. As a newbie even a $200 pipe makes me choke on my own saliva.

wow, $30,000 for a lighter? Didnt people used to make it bu rubbing sticks together?!

Hahahaha, I used to burn ants when I was kid with that method... don't judge me, I was young and didn't really know any better, LOL

@mhajec - Never used a magnifying glass on ants. Poke a hole in an ant hill, fill with gas and light it? Nah! I wouldn't have done that.

On the other hand, a friend and I used to stage drag races by taping bottle rocks to the top of Hot Wheel cars and lighting them.

@mhajec - glad to help. We also had some small ponds and drainage ditches which held water pretty good and would float those old plastic boats in them. Did you know that back in the 60s you could buy firecrackers that you could light and drop into the water like depth charges and they would explode.

@CretinDan  That's how I felt when I first got in the hobby.  Now, I have learned it can be worth buying more expensive pipes ($100 range).  I only have a few near or over the $200 range and they were my birthday/birthyear pipes.  Most of my pipes are around $100 or less and a majority are estates.
