What do you guys do with your loose change?

At one time people used to get empty 5-gallon water jugs and use them as banks for their holiday or vacation funds. I don't do that but I do have four empty 100 gram Tobacco tins on my desk and I will dump my loose change into them. After we starting accumulating grand children, the money would be divided among them when they were younger so they could buy Christmas presents for their parents. Today I noticed that all four were full so I decided to start counting coins. I separated all the quarters first and found I had $95 in quarters alone. I still have 2-1/3 tins filled with pennies, nickels and dimes. I'm saving them for another day.

I almost have enough loose change to make another tobacco order.

I thought about giving it to the crackheads standing on the corners in Greensboro, but decided against it, so I just spend it on lottery tickets.

I rarely use cash, so I seldom have any change.  I pick up pennies when I see them laying around on the ground.  My mom collects pennies, so she ultimately gets them.  I had been saving them in an old, thick,  heavy glass, two gallon? carboy for the last 20+ years…until a few months ago when Felix the cat hooked the doily it was sitting on and pulled it to the floor…pennies and glass everywhere😖.  You gotta love cats, right?  I don’t know how old that carboy was, that is the biggest loss.

My Loose Change goes in a coffee can... it buys my hunting and fishing license every year

@DSturg369 I'm with ya' there...my fishing licenses are almost as important as my driver's license.

I've got one of those great big plastic Coke bottle banks that's about 24" tall which is about half filled with change. Last time I counted it I had over $300.00 in it. I'm saving it as an emergency fund for when the power grid goes down and banks are closed, The early days of the zombie apocalypse. That loose change might be just enough to stock my shelves with rice, beans, and spaghetti for a few months.When that's depleted I'm eating my next door neighbors.

I guess I could use my loose change as an emergency fund but I have money in the safe for things like hurricanes. It's always good to have cash on hand when the power goes out or until I get somewhere with working ATMs and credit card machines.

I never carry cash...I love my Rewards Points too much...it's like free money    That said, I do take a decent amount of cash with me when I travel because you never know when you'll break down, and cash to a tow truck driver or mechanic will get you pretty much anything you want, lol.

I had a gallon jug I threw all my change in for 10 or 11 years. Rolled it up back in the spring. Thought it would be $80 or so, ended up being $493. Local bank took it.

Buying yourself a bit of gold coinage just in case is not a bad thing either, given the current administrations ineptitude.

I rarely use cash but when I did I would alway break a bill and save the change I would cash out my change every year in May before the pipe show. I usually cashed out over $300 dollars a year. I bet I don’t save even $30 dollars a year in change anymore.

These coins have been accumulated for over two years. I don't carry a lot of cash anymore except on road trips. I have a phobia about using a card in convenience stores for some reason.
