Fireworks and outdoor festivals have been cancelled throughout my area. So when I saw this picture I figured it pretty much summed up the extent of the 4th Of July Celebrations in my Community.

I don't know about the official fireworks in my town. But I guarantee that tonight will be noisy. That started last night.

Santa has survived the black plague, the Spanish Flu, and various other epidemics. He is immortal of course. That being said, Santa is making fewer appearances in public this year so don't expect to see him in very many places in public.

@PappyJoe Maybe Santa is one of the few who don't actually get the virus but can spread it to others. Hate to have the entire elf population wiped out because Santa displayed bad judgement by spending Mardi Gras week in New Orleans collecting beads from scanty clad women .

@motie2 Two observations concerning that mask: They aren't adhering to social distancing and there is a total absence of masks... Although being Jewish, they probably did wash their hands... 😏

local radio did an interview with one of Maine's fireworks show companies, who said that usually they have about 100 jobs for the 4th. This year they have a total of 8.

That was the case in my town as well. I guess the older I get the less I enjoy fireworks. That and being a pipe smoker, kinda makes me a fossil. Just when I had come to terms with being an old fart.

There may not be an organized fireworks display in my community, but my neighborhood sounds like Iraq during the whole Shock & Awe campaign. I remember getting M-80s as a kid and it was a big thing. But the people around me have quarter sticks and judging by the way my house is shaking ... half sticks. Don't know where they are getting them, but I've never had my entire house shake like it has tonight. And of course we have the usual morons who are shooting their guns as well. Living in Gary, Indiana I've learned to distinguish between a firework and and someone emptying a round from a handgun or rifle.

Usually after the 4th of July the internet is filled with posts from people looking for their lost dog. The two feral cats who adopted us are nowhere to be seen. They are usually at the back screen around 9:00pm looking for an evening snack. And even the family of raccoons haven't come around who normally come around to finish off the food the cats leave behind. I guess all the wildlife is hole up in some bunker deep in the forest.

99% of people I hang out with don’t really have any higher worries about “The Rona” than any of the bazillion other types of nasty viruses that we know or don’t know about.
 

My Thoughts:

“It’s not my fault if my body can fight and survive..or not, but it is your (meaning whomever, not necessarily you or anyone else personally or specifically) bodies fault if it can’t, or won’t fight.  That’s life.”

Wait... @ChaplainCorey, you caught The COVID??! Ahhh man. That sucks. However, you are the first pipe smoker I know of who has/had it. Sooo... congrats? I assume since you’re smoking a bowl and posting on this forum that you’re doing okay now.

My current urologist caught and recovered from the virus. thank goodness.

Too bad it didn't get my previous urologist, "Dr. Mengele," a adequate surgeon but one of the most repugnant human beings I've ever encountered, and one of the very, very few folks I'd wish it upon.....

My SWMBO made an interesting comment yesterday.
"Until the 3rd, 4th and 5th, I wasn't sure how some people spent their stimulus checks."

Yes, there was a lot of green going up in fire, sparks, and smoke this year.  There were markedly more people setting off fireworks this year than in recent years for sure.  It was great!

This is the first year since Maine legalized many common fireworks that I DIDN'T hear a lot of them being fired off on the 3rd, 4th & 5th.
