@opipeman Matches860 - never got a chance to meet John but wish I did, and he's famous in my book; film score composer Bernard Herrmann - his music for films like "Mysterious Island", "Journey To The Center Of The Earth", "The Ghost And Mrs. Muir", "The Day The Earth Stood Still", 7th Voyage Of Sinbad", "Jason And The Argonauts", "Citizen Kane", "Fahrenheit 451", as well as several Hitchcock films enriched my life and inspired me to pursue a career in music; stop motion SPFX animator Ray Harryhausen - I loved his fantasy films as a child and to this day as an adult even though I know how the magic was performed; actor Jimmy Stewart (as his character Elwood P. Dowd from the film "Harvey") Jimmy Stewart the actor would be interesting to talk to as well, but an afternoon spent with Elwood P. Dowd would be a memory I'd cherish to my dying day; and speaking of my dying day the final person on my list is actually the first ... Jesus Christ - after a few beers and a bowl or two he might loosen up and reveal some insider information which could prove to be quite beneficial to me, considering my check-out time fast approaching.

I would start with Brigader General James Stewart and General Chesty Puller. Keeping in the military, next would be Captain “He’ll-Raising” Mike Healey who was commanding officer of the Revenue Cutter Bear. Next would maybe be Ronald Reagan and Charlton Heston.

I can't really imagine such an event that would include me. The longest conversations I've had over the past five or six years have been while going through a store's checkout. I don't count count arguing with my wife's blow-ups to be any kind of conversation.

I am SO out of practice . . .

My thinking when I selected my 5 was that I would set, smoke my pipe, drink a little beer, and just listen to these great men talk. I can't imagine that they would be even slightly interested in anything that I might have to say. I'd just listen and learn.

Off the top of my head, I'd pick C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Shelby Foote, Brian Jacques (don't think he smoked a pipe, but I always wanted to meet him), and Great Lakes shipwreck author Dwight Boyer. I stuck with authors, because I'd want to learn about their craft straight from the authors.
