I posted this inside another discussion but thought I would add it here also.
I've been testing a product I read about on rebornpipes.com for deoxidizing vulcanite or hard rubber stems.

Not to be self promoting, but click on the link and read the post. It also has a link to the website and to a review of the product by Steve Laug at rebornpipes.com (https://rebornpipes.com/2020/01/20/got-a-filthy-estate-pipe-that-you-need-to-clean/)
The company is La Belle Epoque. His website is https://www.lbepen.com/apps/webstore/products/show/6766975
I have now cleaned 8 vulcanite stems using the deoxidizer and all but one has yielded excellent results. The one that didn't still removed almost all of the oxidation and if you look at it indoors seems to have a high polish. If you take it out into the sunlight you can see tiny specks of oxidation still deep in the stem. I'm still working on it. ( These are all estate pipes I'm working on for a lady who inherited them.)
