My trip to the Missouri Meerschaum Factory

Back in November, I had the chance to stop in Washington, Missouri and see the Missouri Meerschaum Factory. I wanted to post about it as soon as I made my visit, but wanted to get all my thoughts down in one spot. I finally finished my account over Thanksgiving break, and have it up on my blog. 

Sadly, Wordpress only allows for four pictures at my current plan. However, over the next few days, I'll add some more pictures of my trip there in this thread. I had a wonderful time there, and recommend any of the members here to check it out. If I get another chance to visit, I'll be sure to mention it, so anyone in the area can meet up for a chat and pipe.

I'm actually toying with the idea of going to the St. Louis pipe show in February and making a side trip / pilgrimage to the MM factory in Washington.

Sidenote: MM usually has 2 tables at the show as well...

Thanks @Kmhartle ! I definitely recommend stopping at the factory. As @KA9FFJ said, they usually have a table at the show with their products. However, their shop has a lot of pipe tobacco that might not be at the show. The museum is also worth a visit, though it doesn't take long to see everything.

The factory doesn’t normally give tours of the facility, but I was in the retail tobacco business several years ago, and of course stocked MM corncob pipes. On on a trip through MO, I decided to swing by the factory. Because I was in the business they granted me a tour of the entire factory, top to bottom. Fascinating to say the least. I met everyone working there, observed all the production stages, from cutting, drilling, plaster filling, shank and stem fitting. Barrels full of finished pipes. Production was 5000 pipes a day. Impressive. A visit I’ll never forget and was very fortunate for the opportunity.

If you can't make it to the MM factory, try to make it to the STL Pipe show in February. They are there, and always have 3 to 4 tables covering most of there pipes,tobacco and accessories...
And admission is free..

@Neoshaone You will absolutely love it. I cannot recommend this place enough. There's so much to see and experience. 

Also, the STL Pipe Show is fantastic. If you're lucky, you'll even get to see @KA9FFJ there.

Yes, though I advise either going to the MM Factory the Thursday before the show or the Monday after. While the MM is open on Sundays, they're not open that day during the winter due to low visitors.
