Captain Black Premium Blends

Looking for any info your brothers might have...

I'm a big fan of Captain Black...and have really enjoyed the Premium Editions of Red Sky and Midnight Gold.  Now, everywhere I look, it's sold out or "no longer available."  So my guess (and mild fear) is that it's no longer being made.  But I can't find a definitive statement anywhere saying so.  So...wondering if anyone at TPL has any inside info or has heard anything?

I think your guess (and mild fear) is correct. On the Pipes and Cigars page, the items are "No longer available for purchase". The same banner they used when they sold out of Dunhill and McClelland blends. 

I think I have 3 or 4 tins of Red Sky in my cellar.  I'm not much of an Aro smoker but I do enjoy Red Sky on occasion. Message me if you'd be interested in a trade.

Thanks @kmhartle - I think you are correct.  I've stocked Red Sky myself so buys me some time to find a new cherry blend:)  So sad...really loved these two blends.

That's a shame because Captain Black Black Sea was the only Latakia blend I really smoked since I'm basically an aromatic smoker. There was just the right amount of Latakia to keep it from being over-powering, The closest thing to an English aromatic that I've tried.

Never got around to trying Black Sea, @ghostsofpompeii - and obviously can't now.  Had my eye on trying it though.  A shame.

....and that's why I started putting a pinch (or two) of a Latakia blend (usually Lagonda, Nitecap, or Fox Hound) in my aromatic bowlfuls. (bowlsful?????)

Yes, those tins have been discontinued. I launched them several years ago in an attempt to get more tobacconists to carry Captain Black. They never quite took off.

On a positive note, if you like Red Sky, Midnight Gold and/or Black Sea, I highly recommend you try Lane TK6, Burley & Black, and HTL respectively.

I think you will find them HIGHLY similar. But you didn’t hear it from me.
