Weekly Tobacco Consumption

I was listening to the Country Squire podcast today and Brian Levine referenced a time when people would go through a full pound of tobacco every week.

Does that sound realistic?

Is there anyone here at that level these days?

I go through about 3 to four bowls a day and I don't think that comes anywhere near a pound of tobacco a week. Those people must have been chain smokers puffing like a locomotive.

I remember as a kid my grandfather had a pipe going 70% of the day.

He would pretty much get through a 8oz tin a week,

I'm sure its possible to get through an LB in a week if that is your intent but it sounds like a yarn to me,

I can't handle more than once a day. Maybe two at my pipe club meetings. At the pipe show, who counts?

Two bowls a day is my max. And I can only smoke outdoors (SWMBO). This limits winter-time smoking.

4 to 5 bowls a day. Think maybe 2oz per week. 1 pound take an average of 1 and 1/2 to 2 months to smoke. I do know people that smoke 1 pound per month but 1 pound/week, man, that is a lot. Knew a guy that smoked 10 cigars a day.
