Pipe Stem with a Slit inside

Got a new pipe (bespoke), and I can't run a pipe cleaner through it. It has a slit inside the stem, but doesn't appear to be a filter. Searching around and can't find anything online about this type of stem. Anybody have any ideas? Smokes decent, but a pain to clean.

@motie2 that's not it...Maybe I can explain it better by the fact that the stem looks like a normal stem. But when you look inside, it looks almost like a pressure washer nozzle in the middle of the stem, almost like a filter should go there, and it appears that it should come apart somehow, I just haven't figured out how.

@motie2 I think that the jobey is close, but this one doesn't appear to be removable. In searching on how to clean a jobey stem, one recommendation was a bristled pipe cleaner since it is stiffer. Took a bit of work, but was able to run that through finally.

I don't think this will be a regular in my rotation just from the difficulty of cleaning (it was inexpensive, was thinking of making it my travel pipe).

Use the pipe cleaner with some high proof alcohol — vodka, rum, whiskey, whatever. Be sure not to let alcohol get on the bowl finish.

Ah! Pearwood. This is a pretty much generic pipe carved from pear root which is popular among low end pipe carvers. That's a pretty common shape. Was it sold by Mr. Brog by chance?

I don't see it mentioned, but have you tried pulling it out?

@PappyJoe I knew it was a low end, I bought it as part of a bespoke box for the other items in it. I tried to unscrew it, assuming it was a jobey, but no luck. I'll take it up to Paul's Pipe shop next time I'm up there and have him take a look at it.

Okay. That explains the bespoke part. I thought you had ordered it yourself instead of it being part of one of the "bespoke boxes" I see advertised.

Just buy a Savinelli and forget about It.  Sheesh, this more more work than it's worth.

You wouldn't happen to be able to take a good picture of the actual "device" in the stem.  As a pipe restorer, I am highly intrigued by it's description.

@RockyMountainBriar I haven't figured out how to take a good picture, but I'm going over to Paul's Pipe Shop in Flint, MI tomorrow night, and will see if he can give me some additional details that I can post here.
