I was actually going through my tobacco cellar when it hit. The quake had a rolling, wave-like feeling. At first, I didn't realize it was an earthquake, but I heard the house start creaking and the windchimes outside start clanging. I looked outside and water was sloshing out of our pool. I live in Bakersfield, about 74 miles from the epicenter.

2nd earthquake hit this morning.

My niece goes to college in LA, thankfully she was home in Florida was this hit, pretty scary. Hope all is well for the residents California.

I have a cousin I haven't heard from in years, who I think is/was a plumber around the Burbank area. Wouldn't expect to hear from him now, either.

Hey all, thanks for the concern. I'm good. My pipes are good. And the tobacco is still good! haha. Thank you @mfresa! We are all well here. I'm closer to the coastline of Southern California, and the epicenter was about 170 miles from where I lived. House did shake, but nothing fell. Much appreciated all!

@PappyJoe Been hearing about the weather in LA. Hope you and your family are safe.

@Oddjob27 - We live about 30 miles east of New Orleans and didn't see any significant rain until about 5 pm yesterday so we are doing okay. New Orleans flooded yesterday but that happens when you get over 7-inches of rain in 2 or 3 hours. I doesn't help that the city spent money removing some statues instead of working on the drainage system.

This storm is moving to the west and is currently forecast to make landfall about 200 miles west of us. My little toehold of Louisiana is not even in the hurricane watch area at the moment. Hoping it stays that way.
