I find it ironic that the Food & Drug Administration is in the building named Naval Ordnance Laboratory since both are agencies design to destroy things.
It was what is called a ‘listening’ meeting. We talk, they listen and provide very little feedback. Between the room and the phone, about 25-30 FDA folks were in attendance. There are some deadliness approaching for the testing of HPHC’s (harmful and potentially harmful constituents). We were explaining how, because our hobby is so small, there are no established protocols for these tests for pipe tobacco, so meeting the deadline might be problematic.
