I have a selection of pipes,,,Cobs, ‘the Pipe’, ‘Venturi”. Kristen’s with briar bowls,,, briar lined with meerschaum,,, cherry wood pipes, maple pipes,,, some of those ‘pseudo’ metal shaft pipes with briar bowls,,,,even a few plain briars.....I like them all, “The Pipe’ and the cobs are the coolest smoking, though none of the others burn hot, at all....use a variety of tobacco.
Now I think I will try some of Mr. Brog’s pear wood pipes......and maybe a Stanwell Beechwood.

Sounds like you need a Meerschaum/Gourd Calabash, a Block Meerschaum, an Olivewood, and maybe a vintage “Mission” Briar (California Briar), oops, almost forgot a clay pipe🙂
No offense intended. I was just observing that my collection is the exact opposite of eclectic. Eccentric, yes. What kind of idiot buys only one brand of pipe?
This guy!
I use wood dowels as tampers, I have several diameters to fit my various pipes.....I like them because they are the exact diameter as the bowl, so one push, the tobacco is tamped...No need to fool around tamping here, tamping there to get it right,,,
@KenofShelby Not all Calabash pipes are the gourd style associated with Sherlock Holmes. I have several pipes in my collection, considered by the various manufactures of each pipe to be a Calabash.
