I was so distraught over the Chicago Bears last second loss to the Eagles yesterday that I completely forgot to post Sherlock Holmes birthday yesterday January 6th, I did make up for it by watching "Sherlock Holmes And The Scarlet Claw" through teary eyes.

"ONE JOB ... ONE FRIGGIN JOB ... AND HE CAN'T KICK THE BALL WITHOUT HITTING THE UPRIGHT!!!!"

@ghostsofpompeii funny, i had 5/22 as Sherlock Day and I am glad to know about his BD. I have a calabash and my first ever meerschaum (a bust of Sherlock) that I smoke in his honor. As well as Capstan in honor of Tolkien on the commemoration of his birth/death and Three Nuns for Lewis.

@ghostsofpompeii - Sorry for your loss. But in the kicker's defense, it was barely tipped and misdirected. That being said, if he would of kicked it better it would have gone through.

What gets me is how the Eaglet fans are now beating the chests and claiming they are the best team in football because of the win. If they were that good, it wouldn't have been close.

Thanks guys! I’ve always liked Sherlock Holmes movies and I’m a fan of the tv show, but i suppose it’s time for me to start reading the books, how many are there?

Sherlock Holmes appeared in a total of 60 stories, written by Arthur Conan Doyle and published between 1887 and 1927. The four novels and five volumes of short stories now often appear as The Complete Sherlock Holmes.

There are several pieces of Holmesiana in the FREE PIPE SMOKING LIBRARY folder.
