Points and Badges (groan)

Ok, ok, I'm sure many of my fellow TPL veterans are groaning just from reading the discussion title, particularly since this has come up more than once in recent years, but I'm reasonably certain some if not all of our newer members are scratching their collective heads wondering how one earns points and badges.  I had to dig back in the discussion archive to find references to this but I thought perhaps the scoring system could be published yet again and then placed in the TPL Library for all to access.  I don't have the list, but maybe @Leonard or someone else does?

I never got involved in the point system criteria, but I can see where it would be good to know.
Basically I observed that the more I contributed the faster my status seemed to increase. I'm guessing the combination of # of times logged in and amount of activity / interaction on the site results in status placement... But then, what do I know... 😬

I confess I was not really involved in this part of the site set up, so I'm looking at it for the first time.

It looks like you get points primarily on comments - when you hit 10, 40, 75, 150, 300. 

I could do a bunch of math, but the easiest way to think about it is - to move up comment like the wind!

I just cut and pasted the point and badge system into the "free pipe smoking library" discussion.

The more people like your comments, the faster up the food chain you climb. Someone figured this out a while back, which is why you see so many masters.
