I'd been thinking how much I enjoy black cavendish throughout the day - easy on the tongue through multiple pipes and just sweet enough to satisfy me. Lane VBC tops my list so far, but I have really grown to like unflavored/lightly cased BC almost as much. Any nominees for some top of the line BC's y'all enjoy?

No nominees, but black Cavendish is my go-to for blending and toning down other blends that tend to be too "heady" for me... Not to mention a good stand-alone when the mood strikes me...

Lane Ltd. BCA. First pipe tobacco I smoked back in 1976. Still a favorite today. I always have some on hand.

Not a review but it is a sweet tobacco with a slow burn rate. Love it.

What is the flavor, casing,  topping? How is the room note?

I second @riobrusa in his not a review of BCA. I would like to add that it is mild and has a nice smell, so I am told.

I'd call BCA a very mild vanilla aromatic. I know there are supposed to be liquor/licorice notes in there but I don't pick up on that. Not bad at all on it's own but if you're familiar with the rich vanilla of VBC, you'd probably find this lacking in the vanilla note and feel, though it's still sweet. I think the lightness of the flavor is what makes it such a good mixer for tobaccos that benefit from either a little sweetening or toning down. So far as I can tell the room note is very agreeable.

@motie2 as a suggestion, you might order an ounce or 2 of the BCA just so you can try it. I don't think you'd be (much) disappointed. But if you so chose after trying it, you could fling any unsmoked BCA in with a larger quantity of VBC and probably never notice that you'd done so.

(Man, making recommendations gives me the willies)

BCA and RLP-6 were my first two tobaccos,  I love them both.  I have lots of different kinds of tobacco 4 oz. each.  I have at least one pound of BCA, and at least a pound of RLP-6.  BCA to me is smooth vanilla and whiskey, some caramel, maybe some light cocoa. Smokes cool, good flavor, great room note.  RLP-6 is less vanilla, more whiskey and caramel.  At least, that is what I get from them.

I will have to try this "Barbados Plantation" you speak of.  I have 8-10 Sutliff Private Stock blends but not that one.  Most of the others have a "chemical/candle" taste to me.  I do like the Moulin Rouge.....I think it is called Cabaret Rouge now.  Tobaccoreviews.com says Cabaret Rouge is a "cousin" to Molto Dolce.

This (Barbados Plantation) is good, don't like much "licorice" in my tobacco but liked it. Had put in my reorder list.

BP is my go to blend.... Deep rum flavor, and (I'm told) a very pleasant room note.

I bought some Borkum Riff Limited Edition “Trinidad Rum”.  Now, I like rum, specifically Meyers Jamaican Dark Rum, but the Borkum Riff was pretty cigarette harsh.  It has been sitting in the mason jar for 4-5 years, maybe I will try it again soon.  Some age may have made it better?

I have not tried that Rum.  Makers Mark and Yukon Jack are some of my favorite liquors, unless I can get some Bookers or George T. Stag. (bourbons).

Oh, Motie, for a while I was drinking rum, tried the famous ones, they didn’t do it, and then I decided to try a bottom shelf on, and it was very, very good... I’ll have to llok at the name.

I spent a couple of years trying various rums, and found I liked the cheaper ones.... like Sailor Jerry and Jonah's Curse, although for a while I tarried at Cruzan 9.

I've been drinking Jonah's Curse for two years now. For a cheaper rum it was a very nice surprise! Very nice nose, with strong notes of banana, vanilla, and burnt caramel, and a little spiciness in there too. The taste is a rich and smooth. But it is VERY sweet. If you prefer to stay on the dryer side, this is not for you! I prefer it on rocks with a squeeze of lemon.

I like Pyrat Rum and Porfidio Plata Rum.  I bought the Porfidio originally just because of the hand blown glass bottle, it is a strange rum.  It has kind of a tequila taste...weird....but then again I like tequila.
