Aretha

Couldn't let this pass by without a comment on an American Icon. While not a hard core fan of Aretha, I have quite a few of her songs. Chain Of Fools, Call Me, I Say A Little Prayer For You, Baby, Baby, Baby, Untill You Come Back To Me, and Spanish Harlem. Left out Respect because the radio and other media outlets just ran it in the ground. RIP.

  • @buflosab Because of the current state of radio being what it is, were it not for "Chain Of Fools" I seriously doubt many young listeners would know she did anything besides "Respect". Those two songs are the only one's I ever hear played on oldies stations - which is probably the only place you're likely to hear her music.
  • RIP baby baby oh baby
  • @ghostsofpompeii, well you made a good point. I guess what I was trying to articulate is the fact that for me personally radio was a song killer for me. Since many moons ago when it got to the point were I could record my own music I promptly left the radio behind. Just got tired of the rotation, the DJs constant blah, blah. I mean most radio stations run the popular songs of the day into the ground, and it still goes on today, realizing their are many more options people can engage in as far as variety goes.I have an open mind as far as new music goes, for instance I get a lot of music from British T.V dramas, New Zealand T.V dramas as well as Australia T.V dramas. If I'm sitting in Starbucks and hear something that catches my ear I'm on it. The great thing today is the availability of downloads you can get,I've got 3,000 songs on my iPod so therefore no need for radio for me. Hope this doesn't sound like a word salad to you, I feel if someone is nice enough to respond to my post, the least I can do respond back.
