I decided to record a video of myself performing some poetry I wrote. The luchador mask was a silly addition, but as an artist, I like to act a little bit eccentric because I feel more open and free. There are local open mics I want to read at and the literary event I'm tabling at this month will also have such an opportunity.

Fun fact about the mask...bought it in Old Town San Diego where/when I bought my first briar and bag of tobacco!

@ocpunk714 Pretty cool! That Mexican Wrestler luchador mask reminded me of the Santo vs The Blue Demon movies I'd catch bits and pieces of back when I was a clerk messenger for the local newspaper, and my job was to bring the daily 'proofs' of the advertisement scheduled to appear in the newspaper to the stores or theaters so they could check for mistakes before the ad went to print. There was an independent theater in Gary called "The Indiana" which played exclusively Spanish speaking movies. And the Mexican wrestling movies were very popular during the 60s'. So I'd stand at the back of the theater and watch a bit of the movie while the theater owner would look-over his daily movie ad to make sure everything was correct. Couldn't understand a word that was spoken on the screen but the movies looked to be pretty entertaining.

@ghostsofpompeii The mask I have is from a wrestler who was also featured in a bunch of those old Mexican movies. His name is Huracan Ramirez.

@ocpunk714 Just curious, did you ever watch the TV series "The Strain"? One of the characters on the show was an aging star of a series of Mexican wrestling movies similar to The Demon and Blue Santo. His character's career was cut short by a crippling injury while filming a fight scene. but that limp didn't keep the old guy from killing those wicked zombie/vampires in "The Strain".

@jim102864 Thanks brother! I appreciate the comments from you guys. Being creative is my mother’s influence. She is a strong inspiration and encouraged me to have an open mind towards the world.

@ghostsofpompeii I watched the first couple episodes, but didn’t really give The Strain a chance. By that time, I was way done with horror type tv because of the over saturation of The Walking Dead. It seems like something I will go back to in the future.
