My weird pipes/

KenofAhwlbyKenofAhwlby Enthusiast
I have what can best be called an ’eclectic’ collection of pipes,, I have several Missouri cobs,,,, I have many “The Pipe’ s which are very cool smoking.  I also have quite a few metal shank pipes with the changeable bowls, again which are very cool smoking,, many of the have ‘twin-flow’ bits.  I do have some very nice meers, and some good briars,  one of which is lined with a white ‘porcelin’ type material.
I like all my pipes,,,, I hope I don’t get throw out of the group for having such ‘weird’ tastes,

I will start another thread later about my 50 or so used pipes.

@KenofAhwlby You would be amiss if you didn't enjoy all pipe smoking has to offer. That includes all your "eclectic" pipes. Most of us are the same, that is, no one can tell what type of person we are from our pipe collection.
So many styles, shapes, sizes, and so little time... :)
  • @KenofAhwlby I think you don't have to worry about being thrown out of TPL for your pipes :). We all have our own preferences in pipes, whether its shapes or material. Odd pipes are great because they have character compared to the average straight billiard briar.

If you get a chance, post some of the pictures of the "odder" pipes in your collection. I'd enjoy seeing them.

Thank you both for your positive comments..  That’s why I like this forum..   I will try to post some pictures and await more comments.
  • @KenofAhwlby I agree with @thebadgerpiper post a few photos of your collection. Nothing to be ashamed of. Speaking for myself I have a lot of what a conservative pipe smoker might call an eclectic pipe collection. A lot of weird looking pipes ... but I try to keep the collection interesting by not having all the pipes look essentially the same. I like weird shapes, multi-colored stems, and on the odd occasion the pipe itself. A pipe should represent your personality - or at least the person buried deep inside you strive for others to also see. Or at the least - the mood you happen to be in the moment you're smoking the pipe.

I fifn’t mention I also have a nice Kirsten, which is my ‘go-to’ pipe after my cob,,, and piipe made of cherry wood, which has been my ‘old reliable’ for over 25 years.   And finally a curved stem briar with the state of Texas carved into the bowl exterior.

Ummm, about pictures.......can the source be traced, from the photo itself???  That is a concern.
  • @KenofAhwlby It's not something I've looked into, but I haven't run into an issue with people stalking me from the pictures I've posted. The only strange thing I've dealt with is the black van that follows me everywhere.

Not an issue of stalking,,,just an issue of finding too much info.  ON a gun forum I frequent, a guy posted lots of pictures of his guns, and foolishly, he mentioned he was going to vacation...Some one came and cleaned him out..
  • @KenofAhwlby I really don't think that should be much of a concern. There are only a handful of people who have my address, and those are members I'd traded with. None of which are people I'm afraid will come to my house and rob me blind. Membership doesn't require personal information, so there is little chance of members acquiring your address unless you give it to them in a private message for trading purposes. As for sites like Facebook, my wife usually doesn't post pictures or information about upcoming vacations or day trips which will advertise we won't be home. She'll post pictures or talk about the place we visited afterward, once we're home for the very reason you suggested. But in the case of social sites like Facebook you're apt to personally know some of the people on your Friends list. And they already know where you live. So letting people you know that your leaving town who have access to your personal information might present a problem. Especially if they live nearby. In the case of The Pipeline chances are the you enter as a stranger and become a friend and Brother Of The Briar. I don't think you should have any fears of posting pictures of your pipe collection. Heck ... I haven't seen another pipe smoker strolling the streets of my city or surrounding towns since they closed down The Tinder Box a decade or so ago. So changes are if my collection is stolen and I happen to come across someone smoking a pipe - there is a good chance it's one of my pipes he's smoking. LOL
  • I my self have some weird looking pipes that I enjoy I think it brings style. My latest will be posted momentarily.

I don’t use Facebook or any of those social media things,  However, I decided I should “get with things’. So now when I walk through the village I tell people what I ate for breakfast,  how my dog is doing,,,, what my grandkids are up too, I also comment on many local political issues. So far I have four people following me....two of them are cops, one is from the Immigration Service, and the fourth drives a black sedan with tinted windows.
