@PappyJoe Cool...I have the Kel-Tec KSG-12. If I load it with Aguila Mini-Shells (1 3/4" #4 buck & #1 buck duplex load) it will hold 25 Rounds (a whole box) and the firearm is about half as long overall, about half as heavy too, I imagine. I didn't realize I could/should shoot it while smoking a pipe though
I had forgotten all about those Nimrod style lighters.. My dad had one... I see them on ebay from $50 to $100,,,whew,,,guess I’ll stick with my ‘stick’ matches.
@KenofShelby I received my Nimrod lighter as a gift from a longtime friend about four years ago. He had never smoked a tobacco pipe, but he had smoked cigarettes in the past (Sometime before I met him back in 1989). He did not smoke the whole time I knew him. He was my boss at one of my first electronic bench tech jobs. Sadly he passed away early last year at 62 years of age. Way too young. Every time I get the lighter out, it reminds me of him and his friendship.
@mapletop Sounds just like my friend Although I never really witnessed any "illicit greens", just speculation on my part. I was just in the company break-room where I posted his obit....March 7, 2018. I knew it was around this time of year. Interestingly, I posted a pic of that Nimrod lighter he gave me in "What are you smoking right now" on March 10th. I did not realize it was that close to the day of his passing. I wonder if he "reminded" me from the hereafter? *Que "The Twilight Zone" theme here.*
Used a Nimrod lighter for my pipes all through college and the Corps. It finally gave up the ghost and, since it was too costly to repair, I pitched it. Still miss it every now and then...
@KA9FFJ Out of curiosity, how does a Nimrod give up the ghost? It is pretty much a Zippo in a different case. The one that was gifted to me had a flint stuck in it when I got it. (They disintegrate over time..helpful hint...don’t leave a flint lighter for long periods (years) with a flint in place). I had to drill the flint remnants out of the Nimrod..and several other used vintage lighters I have acquired. After installing new flints and maybe a new wick, an fill them with lighter fluid they spark right up. Another tidbit, in case you don’t know...or want to know, lighter “flints” are actually a man made compound called Ferrocerium.
@RockyMountainBriar - I have an old Nimrod and it gives up the lighter fluid faster than a Zippo insert without a case.
I've always thought the Nimrods were cool though and I like the way you can position the flame over the bowl. I just wish someone would make a soft flame butane lighter like a Nimrod.
@RockyMountainBriar@PappyJoe has the answer. My Nimrod started leaking almost the instant I would fuel up. Remember though, this was after about 9 years on near daily use. Anyway, I couldn't stop it so out she went. As much as I had become attached to it, I should have had a funeral service and formal burial...
@PappyJoe@KA9FFJ Yep, I agree. The Nimrod fluid does evaporate even quicker than a Zippo. Hence, I don't really use it much either. Works well when it has fuel in it though I could also see a hole being rubbed through a Nimrod aluminum case from pocket wear, especially if one carries an assortment of EDC knives, multi-tools, keys, flashlights, and the like as I do. The Nimrod does not fit in the watch pocket of jeans nearly as well as my Zippo. Kind of sad, I carry my Zippo in my watch pocket and I have a pocket watch that I carry in my front pocket with all that other stuff...silly, I know, but the pocket watch that I carry everyday is cheaper than my Zippos
@RockyMountainBriar - Just for giggles I pulled out my Nimrod and filled it with lighter fluid then used it to light my pipe. It still works and I've always liked the way the flame is centered over the bowl. As I said before I just wish someone would make a lighter like this using butane.
I've seen ads featuring famous actors hawking their favorite pipes and tobacco ... this is the first time I've discovered one featuring Boris Karloff as a spokesman for shaving cream.
While not strictly a product advertisement I thought it would be appropriate here. Think of it as a public service announcement for you own little piece of heaven.

I found this on Pinterest while I was looking for interesting pipes.

It works good in a wind.

THIS SYSTEM MAKES A LOT OF SENSE
You are not going to find a Perry Pipe, but an EA Carey Magic Inch pipe accomplishes the same goal.
I put a little salt in my pipes to keep the slugs out
