Nording Hunter Series

Has anybody ever tried these pipe tobaccos? I picked up each one except the Begal since it’s out of production. Dug around the interwebs and found the last Fox Hound at Windy City Cigars. That one was not easy to find.

I have smoked most of the Hunter Series and they were all good but as you say, they were manufactured by McClelland. 
I particularly liked the Labrador and the Retriever blends. My oldest son offered me double what I paid for the last tin of Labrador I have sitting in my cellar.

@PappyJoe I bought an extra tin of Retriever, so I could try some out and cellar the others for now.

Retriever is good too. I may still have a tin of that buried in the bottom of my foot locker.

I totally agree with Pappy.....I think the Labrador is an excellent blend. After my very first bowl I bought 6 tins to cellar. I bought one Retriever to try which I need to do very soon. I actually posted a review of the Labrador on our site December 18.

Timely comments as I just filled a pipe to smoke as I need to go out in about a half hour or so.

I have an affinity for the Nording Freehand pipes and have three in my collection. Two signature and one Harmony. I love the big chunky look of a freehand.

I've never smoked a Nording Hunter blend, but I own one of the Hunting pipes. Every year, Nording has released an animal themed pipe, and many of them look very nice.



This is their Beaver pipe, released in 1998. I stumbled upon a picture of one on a website and was smitten by the shape and the bamboo shank. For about a year, I scoured ebay for one, until I found one up for bidding. My wife let me purchase it as a Valentines Day gift, and it's been one of my favorite pipes to smoke.

Oldest son is a Nording Freehand fan I think he has two of them now.

So does the closure of McClelland doom the Nording Aromatic Hunters series? This is what had me worried as I know a few (or more?) of the "Boutique" blends are in fact made by some of the larger houses. Even if someone else takes over the blending and manufacture of a blend formerly made elsewhere, will the tobacco qualities and all the components be the same? As if I do not have other things to worry about........

@Woodsman Yes, but I only received the pipe, not the great stuff that came with it.

@pwkarch - That's one of the questions everyone is waiting for an answer on. It's possible that Nording could find some other company to do the production but then we don't know if it will change.
