Pear Wood pipes anyone?

I have 4 Mr. Brog's Pear Root pipes (and one of his briar) that I received from a client I was did some work for. I have smoked them all and found that why the do get a little hotter while smoking, they all do the job of burning tobacco to a fine ash. I would compare them to a cherrywood or a maple pipe in quality. I don't find them affecting the taste of the tobacco either.
For the price that they sell, I believe they are good introductory pipes for newbies.

I bought several pear wood pipes on EBAY last year - none of which are Mr. Brog - and all smoke perfectly well. I was warned that upon the initial smoke there might be a sweetness from the wood, but since I smoke aromatics I didn't notice an difference in the taste of the tobacco.
Here is a picture of one of two small pear wood Calabash pipes I purchased ... the one in the picture is a rosewood sort of finish the other (which is exactly the same) has a black finish.
Here is the Mr. Brog kentucky that I received a few weeks back, so far I am impressed with it and how it smokes. It has become my end of the evening pipe because it does seem to smoke quicker than either my briar or cob pipes-that is not a complaint just an observation of how this pipe smokes. I will probably buy another Mr. Brog or two some day, I love the look of their pipes and the thickness of the walls
