I wrote a new post on my pipe blog praising the pipesandcigars.com mail catalog. With print media slowly dying, the P&C catalog provides our hobby with an important resource in preserving our history. I came up with the topic after chatting on here with @motie2 about the catalog.

And when something is out of stock I'm happy to have Smokingpipes.com and eBay as alternatives.
But you cannot peruse them in the head, unless you bring your iPad in with you.
Back when I was a kid, there was a company called "Johnson Smith," that had a mail order catalog that I loved to receive in the mailbox. It had all kinds of neat novelty and gag gifts. One of my favorites, was a telescope that you would offer to let an unsuspecting victim look thru, that would black their eye without them knowing it.
The Pipes and Cigars mail order catalogs are reminiscent of those mail order catalogs of old, and almost as much fun.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we have the convenience of ordering pipes/tobacco online, but as I mention in the post, I'm glad we have a print catalog to read through.
