Besides TPL

I love This Pipe Life!! I think we all do or we wouldn't spend so much time here. I've spent a little time on both Pipes Magazine & Reddit. And although they have some really good information, neither come close to the ease of use and overall quality experience we have here at TPL. So now that I'm done sucking up to Nicole and others who run this site I'm curious what other pipe forums you all frequent. I've visited @PappyJoe's excellent blog several times, but I know there have to be other great pipe-related resources out there that I've yet to discover. Please, do share...

  • I probably spend the most pipe forum time on Thebriarpatchforum.com and here.  Am also on pipesmagazine.com, brothersofbriar.com and the dr grabow collectors forum.
  • I'm a homebody. I just happily abide here. I visit other places when Google points the way.
  • The layout of TPL is very user friendly on a mobile device. I do like Pipes Magazine, but hard to post while on a mobile device. I tend to use most of my internet through my phone as I’m in outside sales and through out the day I’m not usually on a computer till the end of the day.
  • This is the only pipe forum that I post at. I do lurk on Christianpipesmokers.net and the Pipe Tobacco reddit boards.
  • I'm perfectly content with this place. Met some great people ... some very generous people (you know who you are) ... and anything I need to know about pipe smoking can be found right here. I enjoy watching a variety of YouTube pipe presenters - but as for a general discussion forum  TPL satisfies all my wants and needs. And I've developed some lasting friendships here.
  • I've checked out other sites that present themselves through postings on this site but overall, agree with @ghostsofpompeii and could not express it any better.  There are some pipe related pages I follow through Facebook but not much of a platform as compared to TPL.
  • I do admit to being a big fan of Bradley at the STUFFandTHINGS YouTube channel. He only reviews English and VaPer blends. He's quite informative and entertaining.
  • I too enjoy  STUFFandTHINGS. I came accross his channel when Muttonchop Piper recommended him. If you haven’t checked out Muttochop’s channel out give it a view. He has some good stories and advice to new pipe smokers.

"There are some pipe related pages I follow through Facebook but not much of a platform as compared to TPL."

It takes awhile to get the hang of the pipe world on Facebook. The trick to Facebook is to ignore the random posts that popup on your feed and bookmark and just check directly into and scan the group page. There's a lot more going on Facebook and after awhile you'll find guys to hide that cuts down on the stuff you're not interested in.

TPL is the only site I check daily. There is wisdom, knowledge, comaradiry, and humor, a smorgasbord of fun.
  • This is the only site I visit regularly.
  • I visit this site several times a day and a few others on occasion. All are informative, but this forum is by far my favorite.
  • I check in here, Pipes Magazine and Christian Pipe Smokers on a daily basis. Each has a different crowd / atmosphere.
  • It's great to hear how many of you put TPL at the top of your list. I have to agree. None of the others I've seen come close to the overall experience and camaraderie we enjoy here.  I love you, man(s)!!!
  • I LOVE this site and I appreciate the humor and the friendly nature of everyone. I will "lurk" at several other sites just to see if there is anything that interests me, but I do not participate. This site allows me the comfort of being able to write in my style and share what tiny bit of wisdom I have. I enjoy the wealth of experience and knowledge that is imparted on a regular basis, and I am gratified to know that I am a small part of a very great group of like minded participants.

I suppose I would be remiss if I did not thank all for the courtesies and the kind comments afforded me. THAT is why I am here, and will stay here.
  • This is the only pipe related website I devote a fair amount of time to, though I utilize many other sources for pipe related entertainment and information.  I"m subscribed to several YouTube presenters, am more lurker than member of a few Facebook pages devoted primarily to pipes, and have accounts with nearly all the major (and a few  minor) pipe and cigar online retailers.  Smokingpipes.com is by far the best, but I digress.
  • One pipe smoking site that I visit from time to time is the UK Smokers Forum. They are a good bunch of guys and gals, and won't ostrichsize you and label you a snob if you smoke a high grade pipe or two.
  • I was kicked out of  pipe smokers forum dot com because they have an admin who deemed my mentioning that I write a blog dealing with pipes and tobacco a violation of his rules.

I later found out from others who left pipe smokers forum dot com, that he had a habit of suspending or banning members who disagree with him or violates his rules.

I do visit pipemagazine.com and The Briar Patch on a daily basis but don't participate as much on them.
  • @PappyJoe, I need to find out who this guy is, so I can get banned too. Send me a private message when you have time, and I will start working on him pronto. If he bans enough of us, there will be like 5 admin left, who will have to keep the forum going with their own posts, and at some point they will run out of topic ideas. Can you say micromanagement control freak? :>)
