New to the forum, first post here. Discovered Country Squire Radio while on my deployment to Afghanistan. So glad we’re almost done. I had a nice bowl of Orlik Golden Sliced in my hand carved Afghanistan pipe. Carved the shape of Afghanistan into the Man Crates pipe carving kit. Hopefully the pictures load.
Welcome to TPL, @ChaplainCorey — Love the pipe. I’m in the Army National Guard in Oklahoma. Great to have you joining us from Afganistan. I think you’ll really enjoy this forum. I also heard about it from CSR. Again, welcome, Captain!
Thanks @jfreedy It should be fun. I've been a casual and occasional pipe smoker for too many years. Met a fires support NCO out here who turned me on to some nice Virginian blends. Looking forward to exploring more. Good to bump into another Soldier! Take care
@ChaplainCorey — We have several pipe-smokers in our unit. We even have a part-time tobacconist. Each evening during annual training you can find us sitting outside somewhere in deep discussion enjoying a bowl. It’s a great way to wind down after a long duty day.
@jfreedy sounds amazing! I've had a few Bible studies on the roof of a connex with the pipes fired up and the snow-capped mountains shining in the background. Now those are times that I will truly treasure. I'll try to get a photo later, but I think it's on my work computer. But a tobacconist in the unit?! Now that sounds like a recipe for some great annual trainings
@motie2 I feel your pain with the satica, I was in a bad car wreck when I was 20, and it tore the muscle on my right side from my hamstring to my shoulder. Over the years it has been brought back to the best it can be. I can hopefully get back out tonight to really enjoy my pipe.
Thanks so much @thebadgerpiper and @Kmhartle. It was my first time carving and I just used hand tools and sandpaper. Took a couple weeks but I really enjoyed and I love the result.
