I read where John Middleton's plant in Limerick. PA is moving to NC, probably the PA under a new owner that makes Marlboro Red,probably PA's new  rapacious tax laws, it makes sense to move closer to your supply. Here's praying they don't screw up Carter Hall.

In 2007, John Middleton was acquired by Altria.  John Middleton’s operations will be moved to Altria’s manufacturing center in Richmond, Va. However, the John Middleton’s leaf processing plant in King of Prussia, PA was not part of the announcement. That plant has recently gone through “upgrades and modernization.”  The reason for the move was not stated

This sounds to me, from reading the article, to be purely a business decision on Atria's part - to consolidate operations for cost reasons. Pennsylvania tobacco laws probably have not much to do with it.

@judandhispipe your right, I read that late last night and didn't get to finish the article. In my defense, I went into serious Afib last Sunday at 4:00 AM and went for successful Cardioversion today at 6:30 AM (Yay me!) I was in the clouds all week not able to go 30' without gasping for breath. It was probably caused by having gone off 2 meds for over a month for Colon Cancer Surgery also successful (Yay again!) but, a difficult healing. Still, the closing the plant is rough on the town as well as the employees that wont be moving.
