I have a (I think 1950s) Kaywoodie "Drinkless" that was my grandfather's. I don't smoke it often because of its sentimental value. However, it's got a fantastic cake that I haven't been able to match on any other pipe I've ever bought.
@Hawkeyeted I almost bought a kaywoodie drink less from bout the same era I passed it over it was in rough shape had I known they are a good smoker I might of gave it a shot
My favorite pipe is The Casellero 125, not expensive at all,got on the 20 dollar deal P$C was running a few months back. Pipe,Sir Walter Raleigh, and pipe tool. The pipe has a bigger bowl than most other pipes I have and didn't think I would like at first,I have changed my mind, I find I don't waste as much Tobbaco with a bigger bowl if that makes sense.
I started out smoking a dr grabow duke when my uncle passed I got his pipes and smoked a grand duke in a bulldog which I thought was my favorite it is now in my top two my number one is an estate I recently picked up it's a vis count bulldog by dr grabow i love how it smoked feels and the grain looks good as well
I've got an old Comoy bent - probably late 1970s - that smokes everything like a champ. It's a staple of my latakia rotation - right now I am using it solely for a 10 year old tin of Penzance that I am working through.
Had to give this some though because I've gotten a few new ones that smoke like a dream. But this is one I've have for quite a long time and seem to reach for it when I looking for a nice long smoke - it's got a big bowl. The pipe is my Brebba Calabash.
Right now, I'd say my best pipe is my Stanwell Vario Bulldog. Haven't had a bad smoke in it yet. Most of my pipes treat me well, though. It's all a matter of matching the pipe with the right blend.
@motie2 I'd actually say that Rum And Maple might be a better tasting aromatic between the two. But in all honesty all three Sutliff Maple blends (Rum And Maple, Maple Walnut, and Maple Street) are so similar it really hard to rank them. If I had an unmarked pouch containing the three blends I probably couldn't tell one from the other in a taste test.
So far, my favorite pipe I reach for is the Savinelli Piazza Di Spanga in the prince shape. My second is Rossi Rubino bent apple. I really, really want a full bent pipe that is not to heavy...one to clench while reading. I love the look of the Calabash too. @ghostsofpompeii, you have a nice looking pipe there! I'd love to find one like it.
There are so many variables, it is difficult to label 1 pipe as "best smoking." Maybe if you asked what is my best smoking Latakia pipe, or what is my best smoking Virginia pipe, I might be able to narrow it down a little. In addition, there is probably a distinction between "best smoking," and "favorite." LoL
My best smoker and go to pipe is my oldest Peterson Kildare that I bought in 1973, I used to smoke it 4 or 5 times a day with a 1 day break when I'd use my 1965 Kaywoodie 10. Both pipes "Weeped" through the Birdseye from such usage.

What's your take on Maple Street? Is it better/worse in your estimation than Sutliff Rum and Maple (bulk)?
