My Big Ben Fantasia Pipe Returns Home After A Long Treacherous Journey
About two months ago I was heart-broken after breaking the tenon on my Big Ben Fantasia Pipe. After mentioning it here on the forum several members suggested a few qualified pipe restorers who could bring my pipe back to life. Taking into consideration the suggestions as well as watching a few YouTube videos from Ric Farrah of Briarville.com I made my decision and send it off to Ric. Little did I know a major hurricane was bearing down on Florida where Ric has his shop in Palm Harbor. Well the pipe arrived at his shop as the hurricane was making it's way up the state. A hurricane so large it covered the entire land mass of Florida.
After a brief phone conversation with Ric to verify the delivery of the pipe we discussed the impending hurricane and he quelled any fears I might have about my pipe ending up in the Gulf of Mexico, informing me all the pipes in the shop had been labeled, and packed away in his bug-out bag should they have to evacuate.
Well I hadn't heard from Ric for a while, but early on in our conversation he informed me he was backlogged with at least four weeks of work before getting to my pipe. And that was without taking into consideration any additional delays caused by the hurricane. So I wasn't too concerned by the additional delay. Well today my Big Ben Fantasia returned home safe and sound and actually looking better than the day I bought it. The pipe originally had a flat mat swirl effect but Ric spiced it up with a coat of wax giving it a beautiful semi-gloss finish. And the tenon repair was exactly what I asked for. Replacing the standard flimsy thin-walled tenon, meant to be used with a 9mm filter, with a much sturdier tenon, since I don't use a filter anyway. I couldn't be happier with the results. Thanks Ric.
