Help me find a good cherry

Sometimes I have a sweet tooth and get a hankering for a nice cherry but I'm always disappointed. It seems most cherry I have tried tastes medicinal like cherry cough syrup.

Sooo...can anyone recommend a cherry that doesn't overwhelm the taste of tobacco with some complexity?

C'mon, you guys, there have been some reviews on cherry blends here.  As I recall, only one of them was not overly sweet, but I don't remember which one it was (I'm not a cherry smoker myself).  But I know we discussed it here before.

@Desertdweller Everyone has different tastes and expectations, but I do have a tip that has worked for me at times. If the cherry blend you have turns out to be not to your liking, try adding some good black Cavendish to your cherry( sometimes up to 50/50). I have saved many a disappointing blend and made it more palatable and enjoyable... but then, that's just me...

@Desertdweller When I first smoked a pipe, one of my blends was Boswell's Bear Blend, a cherry blend with Latakia. I liked it, though I don't keep it around any more.

Also, while I haven't tried it, I've heard plenty of people on instagram go wild for Cult's Blood Red Moon that you might want to check out.

I like Cult blood red moon and I believe Captain Black has even more cherry flavor. The Captain brings a huge room note. There are so many with cherry I have not tried but these two.

For the most part I've always been disappointed by cherry blend aromatics. They either taste like cough syrup or like nothing at all.

I have Captain Black cherry and to me it tastes awful. I do like cavendish so adding that is a good tip. I just find it hard to believe that nobody can create a cherry with some complexity but perhaps it is a fickle fruit.

I want to commend all members for making appropriate replies to this thread. Except for those recommending Captain Black Cherry. You might as well tell her to go smoke Middleton's Cherry Blend.

@motie2, that's what I did, looked for a blend that had many reviews and was highly rated.  If a blend only has a few reviews, the validity of the rating seems a little tenous (IMHO).

Lane Dark Red is cherry and vanilla  and good bulk aromatic. Complexity and natural tobacco flavor in a cherry may take custom blending like suggested above.

Wish I could help there are a lot of cherry blends to try but as I do not care for cherry I have no advice to give.

I’m not a huge aromatic smoker. That said, McClelland’s Three Cherries Blend is fantastic! Best tin note I’ve ever smelled, doesn’t bite, just a fantastic smoke. Not goopy or syrupy, just good. Highly recommended!

McClelland Three Cherry is my favorite cherry blend. Parson's Blend from the Country Squire has a little bit of cherry in it and it is fantastic.

In honor of this thread, I added a pouch of Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish to my last order from P&C.  It just arrived, and I’m smoking a bowl of it in an old Wellington right now.

It’s a 50/50 Black Cavendish and Virginia.  Strong cherry aroma coming out of the pouch.  I like the taste, and it has the other characteristics of a Borkum Riff tobacco that I appreciate, in that it has a nice cut and that it burns very well.

I hasten to add that this is by all measures a typical Borkum Riff mixture.  If you don’t care for any of their other blends, then you probably wouldn’t like this one either.

Thanks everybody, I ordered trumpeter from Country Squire which is more of a black cherry but Jon David Cole said it sounds like what I'm looking for....

Sounds like the right cherry search can be a lifelong endeavor

Middleton's Cherry Blend darn near stopped me from smoking a pipe, fortunately found others that didn't bite me like a snake.

I tend to agree with @Londy3 If you haven't tried Cult Blood Red Moon, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. It is, for me, a most enjoyable smoke... (my two cents)...
