Female US Marine Smashes Glass Ceiling

I believe that women excel, in a lot of areas where men are deficient. I am glad to see the Marines are giving females who are interested, the opportunity to serve their country at a higher level than has been offered in the past. Were I a young Marine, I would be proud to serve under this officers command.

@xDutchx, that's awesome man. Thanks for posting this. I read the article and understand why she wants privacy. Would be great to try and follow her. I'd like to see how she does on the first assignment.

nice to see the Marines catching up to the Coast Guard. The first woman officer to take command of a Coast Guard Cutter was in 1979.

To be fair to the USMC, women weren't allowed to take these positions until last year.

@judandhispipe exactly. It should have happened decades ago. I knew a few women Marine Officers in the late 1980s who were outstanding leaders and Marines.
