"Comment posted after it is approved"?

I got a comment today that my comment will be posted after it is approved... is this new?  Seems like a lot of work for our poor @admin

  • Did you do anything different in the post? Like maybe tried to use the (strike-through) button next to the Italic one in the tool bar above this box?
    I did that once and it gave me the same message. Took it out of the comment and it posted.
  • @rustedrailpipes A few days ago I was posting a new discussion and as I was re-reading it to check for mistakes A message appeared informing me I did not have Vanilla editing authorization (or something along those lines). Then the entire discussion I'd composed was deleted. Now I've edited a message many times before this they added the new edit feature ... but it was the first time I was posting a new discussion when I tried to edit something. Maybe had I posted the message first - and then gone back in and corrected it I would have been fine. So there still seems to be a few glitches in the system. I'm hoping when all the changes are in place we'll get a formal education into all the function dos and don'ts.

    @ghostsofpompeii -- Yeah, I've mentioned the disappearing posts business. It has to do with Wi-Fi latency issues or page refresh rates or some damn thing or other. The Vanilla business is the framework the site is built on.

    As to <<I'm hoping when all the changes are in place we'll get a formal education into all the function dos and don'ts,>> good luck with that....
  • I tried posting a link to a reviewers You Tube channel, and got the same message. I waited a few days to see if my comment had been approved, but it never showed up. I went back and imbedded one of the videos from the You Tube channel, and didn't have a problem sharing the reviewers channel that way.

    I'm sure that one of the reasons they do this, is to cut down on spammers and bot activities on the forum.

  • Just yesterday I tried posting a picture of my son and I (the one I introduced to pipe smoking) and the message read something like  'You don't have access or permission to post this'. I'll try again later - but right after that I couldn't get back into the site, so I assumed they were doing maintenance on it.
  • Happened to me again yesterday when I tried posting the pictures of my Kaywoodie White Briar Churchwarden. I think the problem lies when you try editing a mistake before posting it to the site. Had I posted it first ... then noticed I needed to make a correction and used the EDIT function before posting it, I got the 'needs approval' message. I went back today to see if the message was actually approved and posted ... but nada.

    So never edit a message before posting it even if you discover a mistake when you 'preview' the message. Post it first, then once it's up on the board you can go back and hit the EDIT function, correct the mistake, and everything should be fine.

  • I tried making a comment with a sarcastic remark in in once after the upgrade. I type a word using the strike-through button (next to the I for Italics) and it gave me the "needs approval" message. I went back and cleared the formatting and it posted just fine.
  • I just ran into this issue trying to post a comment with links to two other pipe forums. I assume its just to make sure the links aren't sending forum users to suspicious sites.
  • It just did it to me again when posting a link to one of my blogs in another topic.

     @buflosab - follow this link. http://macpappysworld.blogspot.com/2017/04/perique-mysteries-myths-and.html

    But it let me post the link here.
  • Hey all- I've loosened up the spam queue settings, so your posts shouldn't be held up any longer. If you're still getting the notifications, @ me and I'll see if the settings can be made even laxer.
  • One cause is putting any amount of formatted text in the message. That gets the "As soon as approved" pop-up immediately......
