@PappyJoe -- How's the lid fit? Tight? One early BaccyFlap I saw had an almost screw on lid. Yours looks precision crafted. Also, How is yours finished?
Oh Great and Wonderful @motie2 - It's finished with Tung Oil and waxed. It's a friction fit and it is tight. I have to twist it to get it off but there are no grooves.
@ghostsofpompeii - Fraser Nuttall is the man who does them and you can contact him through his website. When I told him that the physical dimension (1.75" high, 3.75" in diameter) were bigger than I was expecting from his photos, he said he can make them thinner.
That being said, It does fit into the pockets on my cargo pants or into the back pocket of my jeans. I just wouldn't want to try and sit on it for very long.
The more I've looked at it and held it, the more I feel using this while wearing jeans or cargo shorts makes about as much sense as wearing sandals with a tuxedo. I think my baccyflap would be more fittingly slipped into the pocket of a tweed sports coat or dinner jacket.
I typically put tobacco into a mason jar, as soon as I open the tin. If I am taking a blend to my pipe club, I transfer a bowl or three to a smaller tin, used for loose leaf tea. It certainly does not have the cool factor that your baccyflap has, but it is functional.
Yes, the cool factor is very important. Of course I have a pipe nail. But I prefer a tamper made by a friend. It has a crocodile tooth in a cumberland base.
@Winton - I have taking ziploc sandwich bags of tobacco, tins, jars, etc. to my pipe club meetings. I have a couple of lined tobacco pouches which I use occasionally when I make short trips someplace. What I don't like about the tobacco pouches is that I find them hard to clean out after I use them and I don't always take the same tobacco with me.
And you're right. This is a cool baccyflap. I tried to buy one of the "real" baccyflap on ebay, but I found this for less than the old bakelite ones were going for.

You can also have the made with magnets.

The baccyflap IS really cool, and like all other pipe gadgets... I now must have one.
