Strange use of tobacco
I learned something that I never knew by watching pipe related YouTube videos. Snuff was originally snorted through the nose, and is still very popular in England. Nasal snuff is not very popular in the States, and hard to even find for sale. I remember my mom talking about her grandmother using snuff. I asked my mom about it and she said that her grandmother did snort snuff. Is this strange use of tobacco just new information to me or is it common knowledge that somehow I never knew about? Also, one video made reference that many pipe smokers also use nasal snuff. Just wondering if there really is a lot of pipe smokers out there who use nasal snuff? Also, if you have or do use nasal snuff what comments might you want to share about it? One last thing, where would one buy it in the States?

I've tried it, it did a job on the sinuses. I think it's illegal to ship in the US, all the sites that sell it are in Europe, mainly Great Britain like Mr. Snuff. Judging that most of the Snuff users on the international sites are indeed in Europe. What the old folks used to call Dipping Snuff (Like "Bandit") is referred to as "Snu" on the international sites.
There are at least a hundred different brands available on the Snuff Dealers listing, some are US made but you have to go to an international shipper.
The flavored ones are intensely strong and the "Nic" hit is very strong as well.
Have you heard of Tobacco enemas? Now that's odd.

Did some mention a Tobacco Smoke Enema? Here's the instrument. Can we get back to Snuff now?
Dipping Snuff is called "Snus'', not Snu, Sorry.
I always find the origin of particular phrases interesting. As Paul Harvey used to say, "Now you know the rest of the story."
As for the original posters comment, when I was a young lad, I always wondered why they were able to sell the brown glass vials, kits, and bullets used to snort cocaine in the local head shops. After doing a little research, I found that those items were originally used to take snuff, so they were able to claim that they had them for sale for that purpose. I never did see any snuff for sale at the head shop however.
@pipeman83, Correct, but the distinction that I remember is that they claimed that their pipes were for tobacco use, and their coke items were for snuff use. If anyone made any verbal comments that would indicate they were planning to use said items for illegal purposes, they were always promptly asked to leave the store. I think it was that way, because that is the way the City Council preferred to make their sales and collect their taxes.
However, you would still have Sergeant Stedenko sitting down the street undercover taking notes.
