Helpful tips,for sure, @nicolestglaneltd. Personally, I rarely dry out tobacco, and don't use filters - I rely on technique and pipe cleaners.

Good info! I recently found a great tip from Muttnchop Piper called the breathe method. This, for me, has been a great way to keep my pipe lit, to avoid tongue burn, and keep my pipe cool.

Right tobacco + right pipe + right smoking technique = no tongue bite

It sounds simple, but one has to have all three ducks in a row. For me, it's two Sutliff tobaccos mixed 50/50, Carey pipes, and patience.
