Rest in Peace, Billy Graham. Billy Graham passed away today. I was alerted through the Billy Graham email list. For those of you interested, not trying to start any religious debates. I once attended his events in Los Angeles. Straight forward message, powerful speaker.

Dear Friend,

My father, Billy Graham, went into the presence of the Lord on February 21, 2018.

The Bible tells us in Revelation 14:13: “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord … that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them” (NKJV).

Many have said that his death ends an era, but he would be the first to say that when God’s ambassadors die in Christ, the Lord raises up others, because the preaching of the Gospel will go forward until the end of the age. God’s blessing continues as He opens doors for the Gospel around the world. BGEA remains committed to preach the Word in season and out of season across the globe.

My siblings and I would appreciate your prayers in the days ahead as we honor a man who served the Lord with his life, loved his family, and was always grateful for God’s faithful people who supported him in the work of the ministry in Jesus’ Name.

As we lay to rest this very public ambassador, please pray with us that the testimony he leaves behind will touch many lives and point them to salvation in Jesus Christ. My father’s journey of faith on earth has ended. He has been reunited with my mother and has stepped into the eternal joy of Heaven in the presence of his Savior, in whom he placed his hope.

If you would like to know more about my father’s life, share a memory, or read public visitation details, please visit BillyGraham.org.

God bless you, and thank you for your prayers for our family and the staff of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Sincerely,

Franklin Graham

Billy Graham definitely left a huge impact on this world. Millions have been touched by God through this man’s life and ministry. He was 99 years old and had preached to more than 200 million people throughout the world. What an amazing man!

Thank you Billy, you will be missed! I know I will see you in the next life!
  • He will definitely be missed.
  • Rest in Peace brother Graham.
"‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master.’  -Matthew 25.23
  • Billy will be missed, but I rejoice that he's in Heaven now. No doubt there are many there now, and more in the future, who will join him there from his preaching. I have nothing but respect for him, and I thank God for his efforts.
  • Missed but not forgotten.
  • I remember when I was a kid, and the Billy Graham Crusade was on the tube, my grandfather wouldn't allow the channel to be changed until it was over, just like the State of the Union Address.
  • All or our children have been named for a reason. Third son, John Graham Fletcher, in honor of this man.

Billy and his fellow TV preachers would have been as welcome on Dad's Zenith as a Jehovah Witness at our door in our house growing up.

How to deal with JW's at the front door....

YOU: Would you read aloud a line of Scripture for me?

    JW: Sure. What verse?

    YOU: Luke 10:7

If you want a more sophisticated approach, ask the JW if he/she is "one of the 144,000?"

I ask them if they support interfaith cooperation. When they say no, I shut the door in their faces.

When SWMBO is a way from the house when JW's call, I invite them in, give them coffee, and then dazzle them with my knowledge of Scripture. They know what they know real, real well, but other than that their Scriptural knowledge is slim.

@Bonanzadriver -- Am I allowed to post this?
  • I WANT to like Jehovah's Witnesses, because they are allowed to drink right there in church. I had one I work with try to get me to come help him throw up a new Kingdom Hall in record time. I explained to him that I was southern Baptist, but that I had made up my mind that if I ever changed religions, I was going Catholic. His head reeled back, like Ernest Angely had healed him, and asked "Why Catholic?"

I explained to him that I liked the concept of confessing your sins, and then being able to go back out and commit them again, as long as you managed to get them confesses again in full, before you bought the farm.

I also admitted to him that the Catholic church has always held a special fascination for me, because of all the gorgeous Italian and Hispanic women who attend services.

It was at that point, that he realized he was wasting his time with me, and put a handful of extra nails in his apron.

  • He was a great man of God.
  • I like being a Catholic because we're not allowed to go drinking and gambling unless it's a Church sponsored "Casino Night" or "Vegas Night" event. Then we are sanctioned to sin. BINGO anyone?
