The Hartford Reading Society took a field trip from their usual meeting place,The Tobacco Shop, Hartford and enjoyed an afternoon at the Owl Shop, New Haven, CT yesterday. We sampled all the available house blends, enjoyed a libation or two and great fellowship. Sixteen members and one new member attended. Here are some photos of this wonderful, classic, New England tobacco shop in the heart of New Haven. If you're from the area, join us the second Thursday of every month at The Tobacco Shop!
Nice layout. Almost like our local cigar shop here in Philly where the the smoking lounge is in the rear of the first floor shop and the fully stocked cigar bar is on the second floor.
Well, at least this event got posted. I've repeatedly sent emails to the appropriate TPL email address to add my pipe club to the "Pipe Club" list but have never received a response. If anyone has any ideas to get their attention so my club is added, let me know.

Jim, when I read the title of the thread, I thought you were actually pipe smoking while looking for owls. I can tell you from personal experience, that if you sit in a tree stand while wearing a coon skin cap, you could be fortunate enough to have an owl land on a tree limb in close proximity. When it abruptly happened to me one afternoon, I quickly took the coon skin cap off, and screamed like a wildcat. My intention that afternoon was to attract deer, but I soon realized that after screaming like a wildcat, there most likely wasn't a deer within 5 miles of where I was sitting.
@xDutchx I've never had the pleasure of sitting in a tree stand in search of deer or owls, but I'll keep your suggestion in mind if I ever do! Now to find a coon skin cap....
@Charles I've tried that method before without success. Not the end of the world, but I'd like to get the word out in case anyone is interested in joining.
