How many of you, put electrical tape, or something similar over your webcam lens? A simple yes or no will suffice, but if you feel the need to elaborate, please do!
@Londy3, The last 2 laptops I have purchased, have a streamlined webcam built into the lid. I assumed that most folks had one built in, but I forget that some folks are using home computers, where a webcam needs to be added.
The reason I ask, is because some people feel that if the wrong people get access to your computer, they can spy on you and eavesdrop. Here is an article some may find interesting.
@Londy3 -- I'll take a shot at answering.... because government is out of control, cyber-criminals are running unchecked, and even paranoids have real enemies, neh?
If a hacker managed to access my laptop webcam, they'd be pretty bored. All they'd see is some guy puttering around in his garage, smoking his pipe as he wrestled with writing.
I rarely leave my laptop open. When I’m using it i can’t imagine what would be advantageous to a hacker about staring at my face. Now recording keystrokes... that could be a problem. That’s why I’ve duck taped over my entire keyboard. Harder to use my computer now but a whole lot safer!
My laptop has one built in. I took a hole punch and punched a hole out from black paper. Perfect size to cover lense. Small piece of tape and there you have it...
I rarely wear underwear, but when I do, its something unusual. I figure if anyone wants to spy on me, I should at least make sure that they see a few things, that cannot be unseen.
Case in point, scratching. Scratching is a natural body function, and while it feels fantastic to engage In, it's not always a pretty sight. Just the thought of a government employee having to actually earn their money, warms my heart.
@xDutchx -- Covering the lens inspires talk of paranoia? But automatic weapons and hollow point bullets, no? I'm just asking..... I'm not looking for a fight. I'd only bring a Spyderco, anyway.
@KA9FFJ, it just so happens that Kramer is a pipe smoker, and I do remember reading somewhere that the sans underwear club has almost doubled during the last decade!
I have precautions on my devices. I'm not real worried about I do tape my laptop cam and mic. Most items are disabled by me until a request is made, and an alert shows. Anyhow, bad people do bad things regardless. All we can do is deter enough to have them give up. They will never stop even regardless how many laws they put in place to try to control it. It won't work. They only push for legislation to look good and gain votes. Case in point, there are more gun control laws in place in Chicago than any other major city and they still have record number of shootings and crime. Since when to criminals follow the law? So it shows you it does no good people. They do it anyway.
@motie2, Back when we were kids, we spent a lot of summer days swimming down by the Nuclear Plant. It turned out to be time well invested, because it allowed us to build up a tolerance to a lot of things that would kill the average person.
As they say, what don't kill us, in some cases makes us stronger
@KA9FFJ, I must admit that the family jewels have always had an eerie glow under a blacklight, but without the blacklight there is not a trace, so we are good! Self diagnosis at it's finest, with no possibility of getting insurance coverage kicked back to me.

Anyways, I've watched iPhones take over the lives of SWMBO and two adult sons, 38 and 40.
Some if you guys just might qualify as paranoid!
