Well, finally i was again (2nd time) promoted to Apprentice after the system reset, or glitch or whatever. My question is this: can I trade in both of my apprenticeships for 1 enthusiast? Just kidding........
I have to say, what a brilliant maneuver by STG to have a ranking algorithm. Back in my days as an anthropologist I felt that if there was one universal in humans it is that we love to rank ourselves. Put even three people together and we'll rank 'em.
@mseddon Is that not the human mindset......just like pack animals there is a perceived "caste" system if there is not an official hierarchy. Put any three people together and one of them will become the "odd man out".
@pwkarch Very true. I remember when I worked for AIG Insurance, back in the 1990s when they were just a boring corporate insurance firm that wasn't bringing the world economy down via a voracious appetite for credit default swaps, I remember going to some kind of reception for folks in the biz in Houston. One of my coworkers grabbed me, pointed at some dude, and said "He's the most famous surety bond salesman in Texas." I thought, wow, we'll rank anybody for any reason.
@motie2, now this will fit in nicely. I like to give credit to Blonie for innovation on the as the first female rapper before there ever was. I believe she created this style with Rapture. https://youtu.be/JQY2YY_xZh4
My rank and badges still have yet to reset themselves. However, I am not holding it against STG or TPL. It might bother me more if I was not simply an occasional poster..
@judandhispipe -- Well, I got locked out for almost a week, lost half my badges, advanced to Commonsewer for no apparent reason, and shortly thereafter became a Master. Actually, our professors told us that our nine years of study made us jacks of all trades, but masters of none. So the appellation is not ironic.
That's me my friend. I am a jack of multiple trades but far from a master of any of them. It has been my experience that those that self proclaim to be a master of anything turn out to fall short of at least my expectations. It is funny too, as I get older I realize I should not tackle projects that I really should stay away from because at this stage of my life i KNOW I am not a master.
I'm still waiting to get past newcomer for the second time. Not sure what is going on with the rankings but maybe someday I will get back to where I once was? An Enthusiast. Again.
The rankings are like participation ribbons. The more you participate, the higher the rank. The more people like what you say and respond, the higher the rank.

Well happy birthday my friend..........you have me beaten by 2 years.
But as to how much that reflects reality, who knows?
