Brett, can you make out any nomenclature on the pipe? It could be a piece crafted around the second world war, as briar was scarce and alternative stem materials were experimented with. However, since it has a folding metal stem, my guess is that it is most likely a 60's era gimmick pipe, that was not crafted out of necessity, but rather an invention or idea in design.
@xDutchx it only has "Imported Briar". Yeah I'm not sure if it was a personal modification or a "mass" produced novelty or what but it is a great little smoker and fits in any size pocket.
Kind of a neat pipe, could see that being useful to travelers and people that like compact pipes. Like the idea of the stem being so close to the bowl and the ability to fold it. Does it burn hot or warm? That is the only thing I would see that might be bad.....well that and the seal on that elbow eventually. Every find out what it is let us know.
It looks like my Dr. brown folding pipe, but it may have a section and joint missing. It could have been made with one joint as well? Mine will fit together with only one of the joints ant the bit. I will post some pics soon. For some reason I can't get pics to post from my iPad *shrug*.
Her are some pics of the Dr. Brown Folding Pipe I have. As you can see the makers stamping is on the center vulcanite section (which is why I surmise your pipe is missing this section and one more fitting).
I was just looking at my pictures of the Dr. Brown folding pipe thinking.....hmmm....I wonder if I had a whole bunch of them, I could piece the stem sections together and have a churchwarden....or if I bent it around on itself it would be back in line again and look like a Rams horn. *phhht* Badee Badee Badee...cuckoo!!!!

Anybody know anything about this pipe or this series?

Well intentioned folks give one gifts from time to time. This is a real nice looking pipe, but very light; thinner walls than I prefer.
And it's not a EA Carey.
I'll keep looking but so far the only thing I've found about the IRC pipes is from rebornpipes.com as follows;
"From what I can find on-line Iwan Ries has a variety of companies make their pipes – Savinelli, Benton, Big Ben and an unknown French maker."
Not much on eBay either. Two 127's sold recently but no 113's.
