Do you have a "Dress" Pipe?

A similar discussion is being had elsewhere. Thought I would pose the question here also.

Do you have a pipe you would consider appropriate for Formal Events where you are either wearing a tuxedo or suit?

I have two. One is a Savinelli Giubileo d'Oro bulldog I smoked at my daughter's wedding (it was an outdoor event). The other is a black, straight Kaywoodie.

I have a couple dress pipes. My formal dress pipe is a patent era Sasieni bulldog. Less formal outings, but still trying to keep it classy, I go with my Mike Couch billiard. Taking it even further, I have a BBQ pipe! I love my pre 1955 kaywoodie bulldog for BBQs and picnics with friends and family. Heck I have camping pipes, fishing pipes, garage pipes, I could go on and on! Great question PappyJoe

Not that I normally go to formal events but I have a Dunhill Dress Pipe that I would probably take or else one of my meerschaums.

I take my L&C Select which I bought at the Tobacco Museum in Nashville. Unfortunately, the last time I was there it had closed. But the things I saw there make for interesting conversation when people comment on the pipe.

I have a Friar which is a Sassinnie second,black rusticated with a silver band on a straight stem.
How ever my favorite pipe is a Doctor Grabow Savoy maple finish rusticated with a straight stem.

If I went to a formal occasion with a pipe, I'd pick my Peterson 05 or 01. Both are very stylish shapes with nice finishes that would look great when wearing a suit.

At my daughters' weddings -two down, one to go - I have had cigars and Highland Park in my car for anyone who cared to join me, so the pipe stayed home.

I've got a Dunhill and Castello black dress pipes but I have a small collection of Dunhill pipes with gold bands and caps that work too. Before the smoking bans it was fun to get dressed up and go out to restaurants and make a night of it with a pipe or cigar. You can't even do that in Vegas anymore other than cocktail lounges.

I normally think of a dress pipe as all black and formal like a tux but I love how may people say their dress pipe is their Peterson Dracula

I have a 1970 Dunill bent bulldog that has a black sandblasted finish. I suppose that is my "formal/dress" pipe. Smokes beautifully and is reserved only for my English blends.

@Woodsman -- I looked up @PappyJoe's <<I have also had success on some pipes with using damp coffee grounds instead of the salt and alcohol. I have a Keurig coffee maker so I will just cut the top of one of the cups after making a cup of coffee and pack the grounds into the pipe. The theory is that the coffee absorbs the old tobacco flavors. Just rinse the bowl and let it sit for a day to dry out.>>

I'm not one for a tux but I have gone to events wearing a suit and tie which is about as formal as I get, and for an occasion like that I would choose my rusticated Peterson Dracula 999 pipe.It's an elegant looking pipe, and the red and black swirled stem is pretty eye catching without being gaudy. If I'm attending a more casual outdoor event I'd bring along my Nording Harmony Bent Dublin which is quite a conversation piece.

I may be converting the Kirsten I rescued into a dress pipe. It looks sharp with the Meerschaum bowl I bought.

A few years ago on EBay I saw a Kaywoodie Opera pipe. Thought at the time it would make a fine dress pipe, but who dresses anymore! Or can someplace fancy!!

Wore a Tux for our local Filipino Association Valentines Gala, and had to get some photos with my Savinelli Bings Favorite. Same pipe I am smoking in my profile photo, though lot less dressy. Classy lines, and smokes like a champ.

I recall the first time I bought a tailored suit and the tailor taking measurements ask me whether I 'dressed' to the left or right. I had no idea what the Hell he was talking about. Thinking it was some tailor's humor ... like the first night of summer camp when the camp consolers sent the rookies on a late night snipe hunt - I finally got up the gumption to ask him. And when he explained I was horrified and felt even more uncomfortable when he measured my inseam.
